Music at Sennen

Written on March 22, 2011 by Chrissy & Kurt

What a wonderful afternoon we had in Kangroo Valley, NSW last Sunday 20 March. Derek and Irene hosted 40 or so guests who relaxed to the exquisite sounds of Trio 42 - Jim on guitar, Anne on cello, Vicky on flute, accompanied by the angellic voice of Jessie. Despite intermittent rain the concert proceeded, with romantic Latin pieces, beautiful Bach, songs from the fifties and Beatles’ tunes as you’ve never heard them before. It was an occasion for old friends to re-unite and indeed the adventures of Derek, Jim and Phil in Nepal in the 1970′s were the inspiration for my own  travels all these years later.

The audience were very receptive to our project in Dadagaun Village, they loved the “Wilderness in Nepal” lucky door prize and they participated with enthusiasm in a silent auction. This, plus takings at the door and donations raised $825.05.

Many thanks to the performers, organisers, hosts, guests and teddies!

There was a whisper that this might have been the inaugural “Music at Sennen” event. See you in Kangaroo valley next year???
